A number of Democrats, including high-profile names like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and even Joe Biden, in recent days have suggested that President Donald Trump and his administration are making an attempt to stifle the United States Postal Service’s operations as a strategy to interrupt mail-in votes come November.
“I wonder if you’re outside trying to hold down your mailboxes. They’re going around literally with tractor trailers picking up mailboxes. You oughta go online and check out what they’re doing in Oregon. I mean, it’s bizarre!” Biden recently said.
The conspiracy theory seems to be growing by the day, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling Congress back from recess early in order to examine exactly what’s happening with the USPS.
One part of the baseless theory that continues to spiral out of control and context is the accusation that the Trump administration is having the USPS actively remove large, blue mail collection boxes as another method to suppress voters who might choose to use mail-in voting this year because of the pandemic.
But what is conveniently never mentioned when celebrities or Democratic politicians float the conspiracy theory on mainstream media outlets is the fact that yes, the USPS does remove those types of mailboxes as an ongoing effort to cut costs and have done so for decades, especially in places where the boxes are not utilized.
Going further, according to Breitbart, under the administration of former President Barack Obama and Vice President (at the time) Joe Biden, the USPS removed a staggering 14,000 mailboxes from cities across the United States during their time in office.
I'm old enough to remember when the Obama administration removed over 12,000 mailboxes.

USPS spokesperson Kimberly Frum explained the rather routine aspect of removing mailboxes where they don’t make sense to have them anymore.
“When a collection box consistently receives very small amounts of mail for months on end, it costs the Postal Service money in fuel and work hours for letter carriers to drive to the mailbox and collect the mail. Removing the box is simply good business sense in that respect. It is important to note that anyone with a residential or business mailbox can use it as a vehicle to send outgoing mail.”
As Breitbart pointed out, the conspiracy theory that the mail system is being rigged by the Trump administration is potentially an excuse for Biden and Democrats should they lose in November.
The truth is the USPS has been riddled with financial problems for years.
*USPS has faced over $78 billion in losses since 2007 & operated at a loss for years
*Obama-Biden Admin suggested USPS cuts multiple times
*Nearly 14,000 mailboxes were removed during the Obama-Biden Admin
